Jennifer has over 15 years of experience as a dental hygienist and is the founder of Oral Cancer Awareness Michigan. Her dedication and hard efforts to bringing awareness to this cause is making a change here in Michigan. She believes there are too many misconceptions about oral cancer in our communities and bringing awareness about the risk factors remains low. Jennifer strives to help people understand the importance of an annual oral cancer screening in the dental chair and encourages the dental community to be more involved with Oral Cancer Awareness Michigan.

Angela is a registered dental hygienist and an oral cancer survivor. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Michigan in 2001 and has been practicing in Shelby Township since 2002. In 2014, while on maternity leave, Angela detected a lesion on the side of her tongue that was later diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma. Since her surgery she has become an advocate for oral cancer awareness, speaking at many events promoting early detection and dental professional involvement. She has even been interviewed on Chanel 7 news. Angela is married with 4 children and loves spending time with her family.
The mission of Oral Cancer Awareness of Michigan is fueled by our dedicated committee of hygienists & dental professionals, along with a group of head & neck surgeons, caregivers, volunteers, sponsors and patient advisory team who are united to one common goal; to help find a cure for this devastating disease and help those impacted by oral/oropharyngeal cancer live longer, healthier, and fuller lives.
